Is Your Apartment Unlivable? Move Out Fast And Get A Lawyer

Posted on

If you have found a problem with your apartment and the building is unlivable, like pests, mold, or another serious health concern, you want to get out as fast as possible. Call a lawyer to tell them about the problem with the living area, so they can start working to break your lease. If you are wondering how you can get out of the unsafe apartment quickly, you'll want to look into the following things to get help fast.

Call Local Movers

Call the local movers in your area and tell them you need a moving provider as fast as possible. There are a lot of moving companies that have workers waiting and ready, and you can have them do the job immediately if you don't have to pack. If you don't have time to pack, pay the moving company to do the work for you.

Arrange Immediate Service Disconnections

Call the internet and cable provider, along with any utility providers, and have the service disconnected immediately. Let them know that there is a situation, so you won't be living in the residence any longer, and you don't want to be responsible for any bills past the time that you're there. If you have a contract with any of the service providers, tell them you will set up your connections at your new living location.

Get Legal Advice

If you can prove that there is a problem that makes the apartment unlivable, and the landlord wasn't willing to fix the problem right away, talk with a lawyer to make sure that you can get out of your lease. You don't want the landlord to come after you for the rent for the length of the lease when you weren't there, and you don't want to get stuck living in a dangerous situation. The lawyer can contact the apartment management office, and they may realize how serious you are about breaking the contract and let you out of the lease without hesitation.

If there is anything in the apartment building that makes it unsafe to live in, and you already have somewhere that you can go, call the movers, your utility providers, and a lawyer to make your start on getting yourself and your things out of that living space. You don't want to put yourself at risk another minute, and you may be able to sue the apartment building for your inconvenience.
